Everyone needs compassion
Love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Saviour
The hope of nations
Saviour, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
So take me as you find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender
Shine your light in
Let the whole world see
We're singing, for the glory
Of the risen King
Jesus, Shine your light in
Let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory
Of the risen king

Gosh yesterday totally rocked. Not only because we won the pageant, but because we had so much fun preparing for it. Hannah had more make-up stuff than my mom! And it was the first time I put on make-up since my kindergarden days when we had concert performances and stuff. And I also realised how fashion deprived I was. I was panicking the night before because I could not even find a decent T-shirt to wear and ended up trying to make an explanation out of the black tee I wore. At first I thought only Amanda and Hannah will be helping with the prep and it turned out that Sherlyn, Jeanette (Lek), Cheryl and Shuang came as well. Thanks for helping me look decent enough for the pageant ;) The make-up did a fabulous job, though it was a subtle sort of make-over. The power of simple foundation, eye shadow, liquid blush, light lipstick and face glitter. And the marvellous dangly star clip-on earrings that Hannah lent me- gosh the earrings she bought from England were soooooooo nice! My grouse is that Singapore doesn't even sell these kind of stuff. Phooey.
Anyways, I was quite a bundle of nerves through the whole thing. Never did anything like this before so, yea it was quite an experience. My heels hurt though after standing for so long, wearing that pair of black heels "to make you look taller" according to Hannah. After the Q&A ended, I thought I did a really bad job and expected to get one of the "most ____" consolation prizes. But it was a real surprise for me as I was standing on that beige block up front, first entering the top three, then realising that I've won. Goodness, I was so flabbergasted. But I then I felt really proud to win it for my section :) I've never expected to be nominated to represent my section; I'm not that kind of beauty queen material. On top of that, I have really never entered something like this and I was kinda glad that it turned out great. Kudos to the gals for helping me, especially Sherlyn and Jeanette who did the golden glittery star on my hair, though we littered the toilet cubicle with golden glitter (it was fun!). Contrary to belief, I didn't have that hard a time washing it off. Warm water really helped. I'd like to thank God for this experience, and it really did boost my self-confidence to be myself in the competition because beauty really is beyond skin deep. This is a great year for us Sec 3s don't you realise? First we won Games Day and now we have another victory in the pageant :) All I can say now is that I can't wait for next year when we can get another person to represent our section (maybe it'll be a guy next time haha). Next year, we'll be the unbeatable Sec 4s! Rock on Sec 3s '04!
